Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Qualifications
Throughout the world, CIPS qualifications are recognised as driving leading edge thinking and professionalism in the profession.
Each qualification has been developed by CIPS after working closely with industry partners to make sure they reflect current, emerging and best practice in procurement and supply chain management.
Following a detailed qualifications review CIPS now offers a portfolio of five professional qualifications which are offered worldwide, reflecting the global nature of the profession.
Oxford College of Marketing will be offering the Diploma in Procurement and Supply (Level 4) from September 2013, followed by the Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply (Level 5) in January 2014 and the Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply (Level 6) from April 2014.
To achieve member status of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS), you must complete (by assessment or exemption) the Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply. You also need 3 years’ experience in a position of responsibility in the procurement and supply profession.
This qualification is ideal for people moving into junior and middle management procurement roles or those supervising the procurement function.
This qualification provides senior buyers and contract and supply chain managers with the expertise to improve organisational procurement and to fulfil organisational objectives.
Level 5 will be available from January 2014.
This qualification is aimed at senior procurement professionals and heads of department.
Level 6 will be available from April 2014.
These qualifications focus on applying tried and tested purchasing and supply practices, techniques and theory and applying them to the real world environment. So, whether you are beginning a career in purchasing and supply or have been working in the industry for some time the CIPS qualifications allow you to develop your skills as you progress your career.
Gateway to Procurement and Supply
We find that many students ask for the wrong courses. For example, some people who already have purchasing experience ask for the lower level CIPS courses. They do not realise that they may be able to go straight on to the Diploma level after completing our Oxford College of Marketing Gateway to Procurement and Supply Procurement programme. This is a basic purchasing and supply course broadly covering the topics listed in level 3. This foundation may enable delegates to enter studies at a higher level thus saving time and money! It will also enable students entering at a higher level with an overview of the lower level course.
